Hey GCS students,
I am Tharushi Rathnayaka, a recent graduate from the Aerospace Engineering program. I am excited to return to be part of the ECA team this year as an Advisory Representative. My role consists of assisting the team and advising them on general affairs for their mandate. I have been involved with the ECA for the past four years now, which has allowed me to thoroughly gain more knowledge on our mandate and vision. Throughout the past four years, I got the opportunity to represent engineering students. I served as the vice-president of academic affairs for two years. I have been privileged to help bridge the gap between faculty and students, and I got to organize impactful events such as the Iron Ring Ceremony. I was an active member of the Women in Engineering society, I was able to advocate for aspiring female engineers, striving to pave the way for future generations and foster inclusivity within the STEM community.
I encourage all students to embrace extracurricular activities — it’s truly where the most rewarding experiences lie! The ECA is here to provide a voice for you so take advantage of it.
