Software Engineering

Hi everyone!

My name is Thomas Gauvin and I am a 2nd year Software Engineering student. In the past years, I’ve become very involved in student politics and student associations, participating in hackathons (including our own excellent ConUHacks!) and other student activities.

I’ve seen that joining associations is one of the key elements to having a good time in University, allowing you find your place within the student body and make tons of friends. It is a fulfilling experience, where students get actual experience in their field, develop important teamwork and leadership skills, and have fun outside of the classroom.

In my first year in Software Engineering at Concordia, I have seen many reasons for which students end up not joining an association. Therefore, in order to allow every student to get involved, I aim to resolve these by focusing on the following:

  • Reduce the difficulty of choosing one association
  • Lower the high barrier to entry in certain associations
  • Clarify the different roles of each association

If you have any concerns or questions (or just want to talk) don’t hesitate to send me an email! Welcome to the ECA family!
